MANILA CITY, METRO MANILA – Budget hotel operator Tune Hotel is set to open three hotels in the Philippines in the early part of 2012.

The first hotel is a 165-room facility in Angeles City to be opened on February. The second is a 150-room hotel in Cebu City while the third is a 167-room hotel in Manila to be opened on March 9.

As part of its promotional salvo, the hotel operator is offering advanced bookings for as low as P188 per night for all three hotels, starting last December 6. The offer is exclusive to those booking online through their official website and is on first-come, first-served basis.

Plans are underway to open new facilities in Makati City, Cagayan de Oro, Pasig City, and Quezon City, or at least seven facilities in the Philippines by 2013.

Tune Hotels currently has 13 facilities in Malaysia, Indonesia, and the United Kingdom. Apart from the Philippines, new facilities will also be opening in Thailand, Australia, and India. A total of 30 new Tune Hotels are targeted to be opened in different countries by 2013.

In a statement, Tune Hotels CEO Mark Lankester said the opening of new offices in the Philippines is driven by increase in foreign and domestic tourism.

AirAsia, a relatively new budget fare airline will soon start operations in the Philippines, with landing rights at the Diosdado Macapagal International Airport in Pampanga.

Tune Hotels is actually part of the Malaysian conglomerate Tune Group, which also operates AirAsia.
The conglomerate also operates mobile prepaid businesses, and music and creative companies. It also has stakes in sports such as the AirAsia ASEAN Basketball League and the Team Lotus Formula 1 racing team.

“The Philippines is a popular travel destination, not just with the international travelers but also with the local market. Year on year, there has been growth in traveling to the Philippines from soaking up the sun on the world renowned beaches of Cebu to experiencing the Filipino culture at the heart of Manila.”

“The archipelago is simply rich with beautiful places that draw the tourists in. We see a huge potential in the Philippine market,” Lankester said.
