NEW CORELLA, DAVAO DEL NORTE- Visitors often go to the Panas Inland Resort to see water terraces and falls and take a dip in the swimming pools.
Panas Inland Resort is just one of the attractions offered in New Corellla, which is being established as an eco-tourism site in this province.
Of the many tourism sites being promoted, this is probably the most affordable when it comes to admission fees and use of amenities. For just 20 pesos, you may opt to bask in the inland resort’s multi-tiered water terraces, swim in the pools, and use basic facilities.
The numerous cottages are also offered for free to guests.
Considering its popularity in Davao, the place is still underdeveloped. Don’t expect any restaurants or to have your fill of traditional delicacies here for the place is populated by sari-sari store operators selling basic goods. It’s therefore best to bring your own snacks and meals.
Just like any other waterfall, water rushes from the springs and is distributed evenly on top, middle and bottom tiers of a rocky falls. Making you feel at your closest to nature is the thick vegetation surrounding the water terraces.
You can always take your relaxation a notch higher by availing of therapeutic massage services offered by trained attendants. They may also run errands for you if you wish to experience some of New Corella’s indigenous delicacies.
Tourism officers here maintain a very disciplined approach in dealing with guests. This is because while some parts of the water terraces are shallow, the strength of water currents is often unpredictable and the large boulders make this more risky which is why swimmers must be extra cautious.
Aside from swimming, walk for a few minutes to reach other eco-tourism activities like a river trek, a mountain climb challenge, mountain bike challenge, and overnight camping.
If you seek more extreme adventures, caving and spelunking activities are being offered at the resort and extends to nearby barangays. Most of these adventure packages come with a tour guide and are given for free specifically for groups of ten or more.
It’s very rare for a natural attraction to offer extremes in just one visit. If you’re looking for a resort that offers relaxation and extreme activities, then you must pay the Panas Inland Resort a visit.
How to get there:
From Ecoland Terminal in Davao City, take the bus headed for Tagum City Terminal. Ride a jeep in Pereyhas Terminal to New Corella poblacion. From there, motorcycles will take you to the Panas Island Resort.
