ILAGAN, ISABELA—The Isabela Sanctuary consists of some of the most beautiful natural wonders in this province.
The protected sanctuary includes the Santa Victoria caves, the Fuyot Springs National Park, Palanan Island, and Pinzal Falls.
In 2009, the local government signed a memorandum of agreement with 28 non-government organizations pledging to take responsibility of the preservation and protection of the Isabela Sanctuary due to the growing demand for eco-tourism.
It was also in that year when major constructions were completed to improve the facilities in this zone.
The Fuyot Springs National Park attracts visitors for its wildlife and gardens.
The Santa Victoria limestone caves are known for unique rock formations and trails for trekking. The limestone caves used to be a dwelling place of nomadic indigenous groups.
After a trek to the limestone caves, visitors can take dip into the basin of Pinzal Falls.
Aside from trekking, adventure seekers can also try mountain climbing, cycling, horseback riding and white water rafting within the area. There are guides to help visitors.
Isabela is about 405 kilometers north of Metro Manila and can be reached by private vehicles cars and air-conditioned buses.
The park is about 15 kilometers from Ilagan town proper. From the town proper, you can ask a tricycle driver to take you to the park or you can just walk.
