SAN MATEO, RIZAL—Do you want to experience ocean waves without having to drive for hours to reach the nearest beach?

Less than an hour away from Philcoa in Quezon City, the Ciudad Christhia Resort 9 Waves in San Mateo Rizal offers the perfect weekend getaway for you and your kids with its wide array of swimming pools including a huge wave pool that simulates ocean waves.

The resort opened in 1990 and was one of the very few resorts to have a wave pool. The wave pool gives visitors a feeling of being in the beach without having to worry about the safety of their kids.

The waves however are not continuous and a wave machine creates the artificial waves continuously for 15 to 30 minutes before stopping for a few minutes.

The 2.2-hectare Ciudad Christhia Resort 9 Waves has two more swimming pools aside from the wave pool. There is a kiddy pool with a depth of three to four feet and an adult pool which is three to six feet deep.

This resort also offers a rejuvenating jacuzzi which also attracts both young and old visitors.

To further assure the safety of children, the resort has lifeguards deployed in the swimming pools.

If you want to stay overnight, the resort has 66 rooms, ranging from P 3,150 to P 6,150 per night.

Visitors are allowed to bring food, but are not allowed to bring anything breakable like glass plates and cups. Bringing of liquors is also not allowed but there are available drinks inside the resort.

Daytime swimming is from 8am to 5pm. Entrance fee is P275 for children and P300 for adults. Night swimming is also available from 6pm to 11pm with an entrance fee of P200 for children and P225 for adults.
