LEGAZPI CITY, ALBAY — The main attraction is Mayon Volcano but tourists who crave for adventure can spice up the view by floating on a zipline.
The zipline is located at Ligñon Hill, which offers a clear view of the volcano as well as a 360-degree view of the city and neighboring town of Daraga. Lignon Hill is located near the airport and the zipline costs P200 per person.
The two-way zipline is about 150 meters high and around 100 meters long. While sliding, you can use a body vest that makes you feel like Superman while sliding down or a smaller one that allows you to sit tight while savoring a front-row view of Mayon. I suggest the latter if you intend to bring a camera with you.
It is best to do it early in the morning or else you are bound to get a cloudy view of Mayon, like I did when I got to try the zipline during the sidelines of a recent Intel and HP offsite press event.
There are guides at both points so you need not worry about stopping in middle of the zipline due to malfunctioning pulleys. The ride took about two minutes; “thrilling” is how I would describe it. You can read more personal accounts from Pinoytravelr and Flipnomad about their zipline experience at Lignon Hill.
