QUEZON CITY, METRO MANILA— Playing badminton is one of the best ways to get back to an active lifestyle and lose weight at the same time.

In Metro Manila, this sport is popular among office workers who often play afer work or during weekends. There are many available courts for rent in many places in the metropolis and even in the provinces.

If you do not like going to the gym, playing badminton is a good way to sweat it out as playing the game involves a lot of running and jumping and running.

According to Dr. Gerry Tan, playing badminton and other games is not only socially fun but is also beneficial to one’s health.

Aside from the fact that it can cause weight loss by seven percent, getting into sport or having such regular exercise can increase good cholesterol by 13 percent, which reduces one’s risk from heart diseases.

Playing badminton can also decrease blood pressure and sugar production by the liver which makes it good for preventing diabetes. The game can improve cardio-respiratory fitness as well as help improve the mood and the self-esteem of a person.

Aside from the health and weight-loss benefits, playing badminton also helps you in terms of developing intelligence and hand-eye coordination as well as improving your stamina.

Playing badminton is also a good way to bond with friends and meet new ones.
