QUEZON CITY, METRO MANILA – He is already one of the feared sharpshooters playing for the Far Eastern University (FEU) Tamaraws, but Paul Sanga firmly believes there is always room for improvement.

In fact, the 6-foot-4 Sanga says he does not want to settle for mediocrity and will always seek to improve his game. He shares that he makes it a point to come to the basketball game mentally and physically prepared.

Sanga says he honed his shooting game by doing a 30-minute to a one-hour shooting routine before every game. He is currently a vital cog for the Tamaraws and one of the designated three-point shooters for the team.

“I don’t want to be contented with what I have and I always aim to know my weakness,” says Sanga, adding that he is currently working on his ball handling skills.

Before joining the Tamaraws, Sanga shares that he played for De La Salle Antipolo in high school. He says he joined the tryouts for the De La Salle University and University of the Philippines college teams but was turned down.

He eventually found a home in FEU and got his break at the basketball court during his sophomore year while playing in an inter-school basketball game.

However, Sanga says his stint at the UAAP was not glamorous at first. He says he earned a slot for FEU’s Team B which only inspired and motivated him to improve.

Eventually, his perseverance and hours of practice paid off.

Now that he is on his final year, Sanga says he has no aspirations of achieving the coveted Most Valuable Player (MVP) award, and that his only wish is for the FEU Tamaraws to bag the UAAP championship crown.

He says although the team is “solid” this season, the road to the championship will still be difficult.
