DAHILAYAN, BUKIDNON—Dahilayan Adventure Park is a must-go destination for extreme adventure enthusiasts because it claims to have the longest dual cable zipline in Asia.
The Dahilayan Adventure Park, owned and founded by Elpidio Paras, has been the center of ecotourism adventure in the province of Bukidnon. It is located at the foot of Mount Katinglad in Monolo Fortich, about an hour away from Cagayan de Oro City.
For as low as 500 pesos (their introductory price), tourists can enjoy the various rides at the Zipzone, including the 840-meter zipline, touted as the longest of its kind in Asia. Or you pay a little less for the shorter ziplines (380meters and 150 meters). The zipline is about 4,500 feet above sea level and has an estimated speed of 60-100kph.
Flicker blogger Raqmitch shares photos taken during a visit, coinciding with the opening of the Zipzone. Or check out a video posted by wittysparks taken during the ride.
Getting to Dahilayan Adventure Park is an adventure itself since you need to traverse a rugged terrain while enjoying the cool weather. Backpacker Marky took photos of pineapple fields on his way to the park. According to him, visiting places like Bukidnon and Cagayan De Oro City changed his perception of Mindanao.
“Growing up, I though it (Mindanao) was one giant piece of land caught in a maelstrom of war zone. I am now finding out that it’s the complete opposite.”
