SAN JUAN, METRO MANILA — Even though San Sebastian and University of Santo Tomas are yet to resume their rivalry in the finals, the Shakey’s V-League has already announced this season’s outstanding players.
San Sebastian’s guest player Susan Roces was named Most Valuable Player of the conference while Thai import and teammate Jaroensri Bualee was named Best Scorer.
Joy Benito, another mainstay in the Lady Stag’s vaunted lineup, copped the Most Improved Player award while teammate Jennelyn Belen was named Best Setter.
UST team captain Aiza Maizo was named Best Attacker, the sole awardee from the defending champion Tigresses.
Three Lyceum players also bagged awards – Thai import Porntip Santrong winning the Best Receiver award, Nica Guliman bagging the Best Blocker title and Nicolette Tabafunda emerging the conference’s Best Server.
Lizlee An Gata once again emerged as the Best Digger of the conference, sustaining his performance for the Adamson Lady Falcons.
The Tigresses will shoot for a series sweep and their third straight championship in Game 2 on Tuesday while Lady Pirates and Lady Eagles will clash for third place in the earlier game.
