QUEZON CITY, METRO MANILA—From being a model, Shanelle Loraine transformed herself into a professional pool player. Now, she is often referred to as the “hottie” Fil-am player who draws crowd’s attention whenever she plays.

Loraine started playing pool in 2000 at the University of Central Florida pool. She played there for four years and was coached by world ranked professional pool player, Charlie Williams. She was able to hold the top rank in Guam.

Loraine first played in the country during the JBETpoker.net Women’s World 10-Ball Championship. She represented Guam at the time but she has always loved being called Filipina, noting that the Philippines is the nest of pool masters like Efren “Bata” Reyes and Rubilen Amit. She was not able to win the title, but it marked the beginning of Filipino and foreign fans to follow her every game.

She again played here during the World Mixed Doubles Classic and was paired with Lee-Van Cortez. They grabbed the third place, this time representing the Philippines.

Now Loraine can be seen on television commercials and billboards of CreamSilk conditioner representing “beauty and power”. But despite her hectic schedule, Loraine still manages to play pool at least six hours a day. She knows she cannot stop honing the skill as it was the key to her fame after all.

Avid fans can see her latest photos in her Facebook Fanpage.  She also tweets updates about her personal life and career at http://twitter.com/ShanelleLoraine. Fans may also log on to her professional website.

This year, Loraine is expected to be seen again in the First Annual Queens Cup (East versus West) handled by Dragon Promotions. Four women from Asia and four women from the Western continents of Europe and the United States will compete in the event taking place this summer.
