“The bulk of this fund will be used to increase equitable access to health care and the utilization of reproductive, maternal and newborn health, goods and services in priority areas,” said DoH regional director Eduardo Janairo.

The budget aims to enhance the effectiveness of the national and sub-national support to local planning, implementation, and monitoring of the DoH’s Maternal, Newborn and Child Health and Nutrition strategy.

Janairo said the CIPH will complement the DoH strategy on urban health system development.

“We need to strengthen our local government unit’s health care system for them be able to respond to emergency cases such as an outbreaks and calamities and provide effective and efficient health care service to their residents,” the official said.

Janairo also turned over a total amount of P387, 000 for the re-enrollment of indigents registered in the Philippine Health Insurance Corp. (PhilHealth) “Sabado” Program.

The DoH sub-unit also gave one computer unit to be used in the local tobacco control campaign database to achieve 100-percent smoke-free cities.
