QUEZON CITY, METRO MANILA–Applying for a birth certificate often required standing on long lines the entire day and waiting for at least a month to get a hold of it.
Now, according to National Statistics Office (NSO) Administrator Carmelita Ericta, the agency is aiming to reduce the entire process in just two hours.
Birth certificates applications currently take about a day if processed at an NSO outlet. For those with no time to troop to NSO offices, online applications and payments make the process less stressful and more convenient.
This goes the same with other annotated and endorsed documents such as marriage and death certificates and certificates of no marriage.
You have to wait for three days though if you want it right at your door step through the NSO delivery service.
The agency has also partnered with SM Malls and has established kiosks at its business centers to make the procedure much more accessible.
There are about 42 NSO outlets around the country and some 400 local government unit partners where the said documents can also be secured.
