QUEZON CITY, METRO MANILA— The Quezon City government recently hosted a job fair in partnership with the Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP) along with numerous international and local businesses.

More than 40 local and 10 overseas employment agencies participated in the event at the QC Hall Plaza, according to Carlo Abella, Public Employment Service Office (PESO) officer-in-charge.

Among the companies  that participated in the job fair were SM Appliance Store and Ace Hardware, and Dunkin Donut.

Job posts were also offered for graduates and undergraduates in the military, including openings in the Philippine Navy, Air Force, Special Forces, Scout Rangers, and Philippine Army.

Other vacancies were for office and clerical positions, service crew and sales personnel. There were also overseas job posts for skilled workers, engineers and domestic workers.

“This is a great opportunity for our constituents because they can submit as many applications as possible in one day. At least, there is a higher chance for them to be hired,” Abella said.

Abella said many Filipinos are looking forward to getting jobs in the government adding that the current administration has given government employees better benefits.

He noted that the rise of unemployment in the National Capital Region is also due to many “migrants” from the provinces.

“We will try our best to help our constituents find more opportunities that will help them become more productive citizens,” Abella said.

The job fair was also made possible in partnership with the National Defense College of the Philippines (NDCP), which is celebrating its 48th founding anniversary.
