PUERTO PRINCESA, PALAWAN—Eighteen-year-old Sarah Osorio became the talk of the town here not only because she was crowned “Mutya ng Palawan” but also because of her passionate answer to a question about the country’s ongoing dispute with China on the Spratly Islands.
Osorio impressed the audience, including pageant judge and former Miss Universe Gloria Diaz. “I joined the pageant to show what my hometown, the Kalayaan Group of Islands, can offer and with issues facing its territorial jurisdication,” she said.
