QUEZON CITY, METRO MANILA – The Metropolitan Manila Development Authority (MMDA) has released guidelines for motorists in preparation for the EDSA I anniversary this week.
The MMDA will implement the guidelines on key areas from February 22 to 25.
According to the MMDA, it will be implementing a traffic rerouting scheme and will deploy police personnel and traffic aides to guide motorists.
There will also be proper signage to be installed on alternative routes from the beginning of the ceremonies until after the celebrations.
Motorists are advised to avoid the People Power Monument Area in White Plains Avenue corner EDSA, which will be the center of the celebrations.
The EDSA northbound lanes covering Ortigas Avenue to Santolan will be closed partially on February 25 from 12:01am to 6am. The lanes will be totally closed to traffic from 6am to 9am while two inner lanes will be open from 9am onward.
Private vehicles are advised to follow a detour by turning right at J. Vargas St., right at San Miguel Ave, u-turn to Meralco Ave., and then left to Ortigas Ave.
Another possible route for private vehicles is to take San Miguel Avenue toward Ortigas Avenue, turn left E. Rodriguez Jr. Avenue, then turn left to Boni Serrano Avenue and turn right to EDSA.
Public utility vehicles (PUV) are advised to turn right to Shaw Boulevardd, turn left to San Miguel Avenue, turn right to Ortigas Avenue, left to E. Rodriguez Jr. Ave, then turn left to Boni Serrano Avenue and turn right to EDSA.
PUVs can also take Boni Serrano Avenue turn right to 20th Avenue then turn left to P. Tuazon Blvd. and turn right towards EDSA, or from 20th Avenue turn left to Aurora Blvd., all the way to EDSA.
All EDSA southbound vehicles are advised to turn right along Aurora Blvd., left at Gilmore straight to Ortigas Ave all the way to EDSA. From EDSA, vehicles can turn right at Boni Serrano Ave. left Gilmore Avenue, straight Ortigas Avenue all the way to EDSA.
