MAKATI CITY, METRO MANILA – Jourgina Dagoplo was only 19 years old when she left her family in Mindanao to work as a domestic helper in Singapore.
Like all overseas Filipino workers (OFWs), she wanted to support her family, including six other siblings, toiling away and sending almost her entire paycheck back to the Philippines. She did this for 18 years.
