LOS ANGELES, CALIFORNIA - The heroism of the Philippine Scouts was re-enacted during a “living history” event at Fort McArthur Museum here.

Old Ft. MacArthur Days is the largest living history event west of the Mississippi and provides the public a grand view of history from Roman times to the present day. It began as a small gathering of canon enthusiasts some 20 years ago and has become a showcase of military history.

The event, held last July 10 to 11, featured Philippine Scouts exhibit a Old Fort MacArthur Days Living History event recieve outstanding compliments by its visitors.

The exhibit featured Philippine scout re-enactors, a field camp, field gear and armaments used by Filipino and American soldiers in World War II. Posters with historical information about the Philippine Scouts were made available, providing the public with an interesting account of the lives of the defenders of Bataan.

The exhibit was hosted by the Lt. Alexander Nininger Chapter of the Philippine Scouts Heritage Society, which is based in Los Angeles, California.

Along with the Philippine Scouts exhibits, there were other re-enactor groups that exhibited Pacific War, Philippine themes such as the American Nurses group that were in Bataan, Corregidor and Manila during the War.

Notable guests who visited the exhibit this year were Consul General Mary Jo Bernardo-Aragon and two staff members from the Philippine Consulate General Los Angeles and Filipino Community leaders Naomi Armada, Lydia Solis and Mark and Josie De Jesus.
