MAKATI CITY, METRO MANILA – At the recent alumni homecoming of SGV & Co., many of the guests were former employees who have become successful either in business or as government officials.
The event, held at the Rizal Ballroom of the Shangri-La Hotel in Makati City, is also one of the company’s biggest gatherings, having invited many of their former colleagues to be part of the activities. It also follows the 64th anniversary of the gigantic auditing and accounting firm.
It was also an auspicious event as it was attended by several personalities who have recently joined the administration of President Benigno “Noynoy” Aquino III. Among those in attendance were Finance Secretary Cesar Purisima, Justice Secretary Leila de Lima, and Bureau of Internal Revenue Commissioner Kim Jacinto-Henares.
SGV & Co. Managing Partner Cirilo Noel addressed the crowd saying that their organization is proud to have “graduated” many professionals who shared their expertise in a variety of industries.
He hoped that younger generation of “SGVeans” will learn from elder members of the organization and to strive to address the professional needs of the industries they will join in the future.
In an interview, SGV Advisory Services Principal Vincent Abella said that the former SGVeans currently working as part of the new administration should be able to exercise their best efforts in executing the programs set by the new president.
“The only real challenge is make sure that their respective agencies will be run effectively and efficiently,” Abella said.
With nearly 65 years of operations, SGV has graduated over 30,000 people, many of whom are working in various fields. Abella said that they have started an online registration project for their alumni.
To entice more alumni to register, the company included a live online streaming video of their homecoming activities on their website, which was developed by tech services provider TechCellar.
“This is to know how our people are doing and if they can also be part in sharing their knowledge to others,” Abella said.
