QUEZON CITY, METRO MANILA – Thousands of Filipinos went on the Internet to air rather contrasting messages for two members of the Aquino clan: advice for Senator Benigno “Noynoy” Aquino and goodbye messages for his sister Kris.

The “Dear Noynoy” page on Facebook became an instant hit after users flock to it to post their advice for Aquino, who is leading in partial election tallies by PPRCV.

Set up by RockEd Philippines, the page drew nearly 30,000 users two days after it was launched. (As of this writing, administrators are on ‘collation-break’ due to the huge number of posts.) Most of the messages encourage the 50-year-old Aquino to fulfill his promise to rid the government of corruption:

In this Associated Press story, Gang Badoy, RockEd Philippines founder says the messages are like letters to Santa Claus. “We’re hoping for discernment for Senator Aquino and, hopefully, with this compilation of real people and real needs, he will listen to some of them,” she said.

On the other hand, another Facebook page called Kris Aquino’s Despedida was created to “remind” Kris, a well-known TV personality, of her promise to leave the country if her brother wins the elections. Afterwards, the “Leave Kris Alone” page appeared on Facebook.

“I promised Noy that if he does win and I’m a cause of stress for him and his presidency, I’ll gladly take my two boys and live anywhere there is TFC so that I can continue my work but with our overseas Filipino brothers and sisters,” Kris was quoted as saying during an episode of her ABS-CBN gossip show The Buzz.

According to entertainment site PEP.ph, Kris sent a text message to the site’s editor Jo-Ann Maglipon saying she is leaving the country but only to go to Disneyland for vacation. Despite the clamor for Kris to make good on her promise, blogger Hybrid Cha simply puts it: “Life’s a bore without her.”
