QUEZON CITY, METRO MANILA – Almost two months after his shootout with authorities at his home, the popularity of alleged road rage killer Jason Ivler continues to increase.

As of March 4, Ivler’s fan page in Facebook has reached 25,000 fans, up from just 11,000 at the end of January. These fans are calling themselves “Jason’s Army.”

Statistically, that makes 480 new fans each day. He has more Facebook fans than Richard Gordon, Joseph Estrada, and Jamby Madrigal.

In retaliation, someone created a Facebook fan page criticizing Ivler but it has garnered only 905 fans as of March 4.

But Ivler himself does not moderate the fan page, although he has already been informed of its existence. Even his mother, Marlene Aguilar-Pollard, acknowledges the fan page, conveniently saying that his popularity can be attributed to his good looks, singing prowess, and his “acts of courage.”

The Blue Ridge home where the shootout happened between Ivler and agents of the National Bureau of Investigation (NBI) has been showcasing Ivler’s Facebook fandom. For the entire month of February, house keepers of the said home have been updating the number of new fans. But since it’s hard to keep track, they have decided to just make a tarpaulin indicating that the fan page has reached 25,000.

When I passed by Blue Ridge just recently, I saw several housekeepers putting up the tarpaulin. A second one was raised right beside the gate, along with the posters that promoted the book of Ivler’s mom.

Ivler has become what you might call a minor Internet sensation. His unreleased songs, which he wrote as the artist “Jsin,” were uploaded on YouTube and have gotten between 3,000 to 11,000 views. There were also pictures showing that Ivler’s songs were released in an album, though independently.

What’s more, some enterprising fans of Ivler have created a line of shirts. At least two designs were made, one had a text that wrote “Free Jsin Aguilar Ivler” with an image of a rifle underneath. The second is a side view silhouette of Ivler, with his right hand raised with a dirty finger. The shirt is actively being sold on the Facebook fan page as well as Sulit.com.ph.

No matter what the turnout of the case against Ivler would be, it’s already definite that Jason’s bad boy image will leave a lasting mark on people, whether or not they like him.

There is so much angst and hatred in the page. There are more 4 letter words there than an Eddie Murphy movie. You even have 7-10 yr old kids taught to make a dirty finger there. And when you try to reason with them, they counter with personal attacks containing invectives.
It’s not a fan page. It’s an asylum led by the worst mother on earth. Chaos and stupidity reign there. The only mark they made is an insignificant spit on the pavement.

Have you considered the fact that one fan has numerous ghost accounts?!
