BAGUIO CITY, MOUNTAIN PROVINCE  – If you’re looking for unique home and personal care products, you might want to try Satinka’s Beeswax and Products.

The business was established a few months ago by Satinka Felipe, a Kalinga native whose entrepreneurial drive led her into developing her own line of natural home and personal care products.

The company produces and sells candles, furniture polish, home fragrances, and natural products such as body scrubs, soaps, herbal salve and lip balm, which are all made of beeswax.

Schaller Balinte, Satinka’s partner in the everyday operations of her stall at the Legaspi Weekend Market, says the business also aims to preserve the latter’s Kalinga roots.

“She hails from Baguio but she managed to reaffirm her Kalinga roots and beliefs in these products which eventually expanded after months of careful research,” shares Schaller.

Schaller says they’ve conducted their own research on beeswax and after a series of trials and errors they’ve successfully expanded the product range. He adds the beeswax they use in all of their products is sourced all the way from Baguio and that the business is all for the use of local ingredients.

Schaller adds that they often explain to customers the benefits of beeswax as a substitute to candles made from paraffin.  Aside from being spared from the carcinogenic and toxic chemicals found in paraffin, customers may benefit from the negative ions found in beeswax, which reduces harmful particles floating in the air.

“The candles are infused with artistry and bits of our Kalinga culture but we give equal importance to the economic, environmental, and health benefits of these beeswax products,” Schaller says.

Satinka’s aromatherapy candles are also enhanced with actual coffee beans and lavender sprinkled on top of the candles or infused with pineapple and apple rose.

The beeswax candles, which they sell at the weekend market from 80 to 350 pesos, and home and personal beeswax line, which start at 60 pesos, are ideal giveaways or gifts for the coming holidays or just a gift to pamper oneself after a busy week at work.

Satinka’s Beeswax and Products are sold at the Legaspi Weekend Market in Makati every Sunday from 7am to 2pm.
