Free health cards benefit 50,000 Las Piñas residents

LAS PINAS CITY, METRO MANILA—Residents here are encouraged to enroll and get “green” health cards to avail of up to P25,000 subsidy in  hospitalization costs.

Since it started in 2000, the health card program has already benefited 50,000 residents, earning the Las Piñas city government the “Sentrong Sigla” award from the Department of Health.

“This program is key in strengthening the city government’s hospitalization program to support to those who are in need of financial assistance with the high cost of medical care,” said Mayor Vergel “Nene” Aguilar.

Green card holders can avail of up to P25,000 free package for minor surgical operations, hospital confinement, maternity and dental services at the Las Piñas Doctors Hospital, San Juan de Dios Hospital, Philippine General Hospital, Las Piñas Maternity Clinic and 28 health centers in the city.

Residents are screened by government health doctors based on their need for the card. To avail of the program, residents can directly go to the  mayor’s office or the social welfare and development office located at the back of the city hall.

City government employees and public school teachers are automatic beneficiaries of the program.

Requirementsto avail of a green card include photocopies of the following documents: community tax crtificate or cedule; voter registration record (VRR) or voter’s ID (VIN); certificate of marriage; birth certificate of unmarried children, and VRR and VIN of unmarried children 21 years old and over.

Enrollees must also submit a barangay clearance both original and photocopy, and two pieces of 1×1 photo taken within a year.
