QUEZON CITY, METRO MANILA— Fashion editor Liz Lanuzo believes that being stylish does not mean buying expensive clothes and make-up.
Liz, though, believes there should be fashion tips that specifically caters to Filipino women, taking account of the tropical weather and skin type.
Which is exactly why she put Project Vanity in 2008 she describes as “a website by a Filipina for the Filipina”. Her website focuses on practical, wearable, and affordable fashion.
While there has been a surge of fashion bloggers in recent years, Liz is appreciative of this fact but quickly notes that only a handful talk about products relevant to typical Filipino “morena” skin and more importantly, availability of such products.
“Many makeup and fashion bloggers are known for their excesses – there’s absolutely nothing wrong with that – but really, sometimes the surface manifestation of your unique personality has to take a rain check,” says Liz, who also serves as fashion editor for The Philippine Online Chronicles.
“You may want dependable, affordable products that are just what you need and nothing more. This blog is dedicated to letting you know about it,” she wrote in her blog.
Lanuzo also believes that visitors go to blogs to read about “real experiences from a real person”, which is why she says she does not simply cut-and-paste press releases in her blog. Instead, she says she writes “down-to-earth” reviews of each product.
