TAGUIG CITY, METRO MANILA -  Despite the seemingly “unclean” impression, food entrepreneur Laila Palma believes our sorbetes has its own unique, intrinsic value that makes it an all-time favorite among Pinoys and even tourists alike.

Dirty ice cream, or more popularly known as sorbetes, is one of the most common truly Pinoy street foods.

The term “dirty” is perhaps coined from the way the ice cream is sold, with Mamang Sorbetero ringing his bell as he pushes his sorbetes cart along the streets.

For years since Sorbetiya was established, Laila has been continuously coming up with new recipes to redevelop the concept of Pinoy ice cream.

“We experiment with other ingredients for that to achieve that tang which suits well with the Pinoy palette,” Laila says.

And with the advent of the Italian gelato and new ice cream concoctions in the local market, this family business aims to bring back that old tradition of the all original, all natural sorbetes.

Besides the usual ube, cheese and chocolate, Sorbetiya also offer a varied selection of flavors like peanut, corn, avocado and mango, all harvested from different provinces in the Philippines.
