PASIG CITY, METRO MANILA–Granola bars are a very common snack particularly for health buffs who are always active. But while promoted as good food, some granola bars sold in the market today are often loaded with more sugar and oil.
For The Cereal Bar, which granola is good for you lies on the sweetener added to the natural ingredients. This was how their kitchen thought about making baked products using healthier alternatives for its sweetener.
Established in 2006 by Celia Elumba, the bakeshop aims to combine health with goodness in a convenient bar-form for those always on the go.
“It is a breakfast-on-the-run, a meal replacer for those who could not as yet sit down to a proper meal or a dessert for the sports enthusiast or the health advocate,” Celia says.
Their energy bars are made with rolled oats, whole grains, dried fruits and nuts and are available in five variants: brown sugar, coco sap, muscovado, isomalt or sugar replacer and no-sugar-added.
The muscovado is said to have fewer “empty” calories and free from harmful chemicals since it is unrefined and obtained only by boiling the sugar cane juice.
The Cereal Bar also offers granola cookies and assorted pastries like shortbread, mini muffins and fruit cakes sold in packs or boxes by the dozen.
