STA. CRUZ, LAGUNA— Locals in this town recently unveiled what they claim to be the biggest puto or steamed rice cake, measuring 20 feet in diameter.
It is also two inch thick and weighs 1,000 kilograms in weight, according to Laguna provincial website.
Puto is considered a Laguna delicacy and comes in different varieties.
The popular puto topped with cheddar cheese (available in assorted colors and flavors) is said to have originated from the towns of Lumban and Biñan, according to locals.
The giant puto was made by housewives and puto-makers of the towns of Lumban, Majayjay and Sta. Cruz.
