QUEZON CITY, METRO MANILA – Paradis Natural Ice Cream may be sporting a western and modern look, but most of the products it sells are traditional and healthy treats including its signature Pinoy ice cream.

Unlike other ice cream or yoghurt parlors, Paradis Natural Ice Cream sells home-made ice cream processed the traditional way.

Pre-mixed ice cream and yoghurts may look more enticing as these are fluffier and smoother in texture, but ice cream made from soya milk or mixed with natural oils like olive oil give the most benefit to one’s health, says Troy Hatcho, owner of Paradis Natural Ice Cream.
“Filipinos are capable of a lot of things be it on innovating or developing different things,” she adds.

Among Paradis Natural Ice Cream’s healthiest selections are the “Yolive,” or olive-infused yoghurt, vegetarian protein-packed ice cream made from soya milk and fruits like guava or green mango called “Soybet,” and healthy ice cream selections like the Malunggay, Coco & Vanilla and Durian ice cream.
The ice cream variants are sold from 110 to 370 pesos and were developed personally by Troy from experimenting with local products.

Troy adds that since they don’t use artificial emulsifiers, coloring, and other additives, the ice cream is healthier and ideal for children and diabetics who are usually discouraged from taking too much sugar.

Troy ventured into the food business as she personally loves eating. An advocate of organic and natural products, Troy thought health-conscious people need not be deprived from eating sweets.

There is a viewing window that separates the processing area of the ice cream from the tables in the main eating area. Troy says it’s important for the diners to know how their orders are made, churned, ice-blasted and presented.

For those who have more sophisticated preferences for food, Paradis Natural Ice Cream also served hearty salads and pasta meals which you might want to indulge in before you have your yogurt or ice cream.
Troy says Filipino entrepreneurs can always use their own ideas for the business to stand out.

“You can always put a local touch to any business. That way, we Filipinos can show our ingenuity as entrepreneurs,” she says.
