LOQAL’S EDITORIAL AND COMMUNITY GUIDELINES

The Internet contains tons of multimedia such as written text, photographs, audio, video, programming code and graphics, and questions have arisen regarding the proper and responsible use of these content types.

Don’t worry, it’s not just you. Even seasoned journalists from traditional media have made the mistake of lifting such content from the Internet and using them in their own web media or other media such as TV, radio and print. These have, in some occasions, resulted in costly lawsuits.

To protect the loQal staff and its community of contributors, we abide by the following Editorial and Community Guidelines to lessen or avoid the hassles of copyright infringement and controversial content appearing in our network.

As these guidelines were being drafted, we at loQal tried to remember that before we became journalists, we too were once human. Media in all its forms have the power to create and uplift, but they also have the power to destroy when used without a conscience. Following these guidelines make us feel more human about our job which sometimes requires us to tread on borderline cases.

We enjoin other websites to do the same to uphold the integrity of legitimate Internet media, and even invite you to copy and paste the following guidelines into your own websites. All we request is proper attribution, that these guidelines were inspired by, taken from or patterned from loQal.ph.
