MAKATI CITY, METRO MANILA – Rival companies Globe Telecom and Smart Communications have come out with probably the most sought-after mobile phone in the country.
Both companies waited up until the official launch on December 16 to get their pricing out. Both claimed they were able to sell in high figures, which points to how much in demand the iPhone 4S is.
The pricing for the Apple iPhone 4S offered by the two telecommunications giants vary.
For Smart prepaid subscribers, the device is being offered at P33,200 for the 16 gigabytes (Gb), P38,200 for the 32 Gb, P43,200 for the 64 Gb. Under its Plan 2499 postpaid plan, the 16 Gb comes for free, an additional P200 per month for the 32 Gb, and additional P400 per month for the 64 Gb.
Under Plan 999, the 16 Gb iPhone 4S comes for an additional P999 per month. The 32 Gb comes for an extra 1,200 per month, while the 64 Gb comes for another 1,400 per month.
The iPhone 4S is also available for Unlimited Data Plans. All models come for free under Plan 4000. The 16 Gb and 32 Gb comes for free under Plan 3000 while the 64 Gb model can be purchased for only P5,000. For Plan 2000, the 16 Gb would cost P2,500 one time fee, the 32 Gb for P8,000 and the 64 Gb comes for P12,000.
For Plan 1500, the iPhone 4S 16 Gb is priced at P12,500, the 32 Gb is at P17,500 while the 64 Gb comes at P22,500.
Smart has a 24-month lock in for all its postpaid plans.
Globe’s pricing for the iPhone 4S was not revealed until several hours after Smart released its own pricing – an attempt to come out with an aggressively lower price. Under Globe’s Plan 999, the 16 Gb model will cost an additional P999 per month. The 32 Gb will go for P1,262 per month while the 64 Gb will cost P1,470 per month.
Under Plan 1799, the 16 Gb will cost an additional P200 per month. The 32 Gb model can be bought for cash out price of P10,080 and the 64 Gb will cost P15,096. For Plan 2499, the 16 Gb will come for free. The 32 Gb will cost P4,800 outright cash and the 64 Gb will be at P10,080.
For Plan 3799 the iPhone 4S 16 Gb and 32 Gb will be free while the 64 Gb model can be bought for P4,800 outright cash. Under Plan 5000, all the variations of the iPhone 4S will be fore free.
Not to be outdone, Globe also made mobile surfing free for all the postpaid subscription plans, allowing owners to be able to use the Internet on their iPhones without additional costs. There are also a number of freebies available depending on the plan.
Globe also has a 24-month lock in for their iPhone subscribers.
