MAKATI CITY, METRO MANILA—For the year 2011, the top keyword searches in the Philippines include the computer game “Angry Birds,” deceased young actor AJ Perez, jailed former Batangas governor Antonio Leviste and new TV young star Julia Montes.

According to Google Zeitgeist, Angry Birds continues to gain popularity with Pinoys, making it the fastest rising search term in the country.

This year’s Zeitgeist report highlighted the Filipinos’ interest in the tragedies and political scandals that rocked the country, hence the names of controversial persons in the top four list.

Former Batangas governor Antonio Leviste topped the searches for local news makers, as Filipinos followed the story of his violation of the sleep-out privileges in New Bilibid Prison.

Meanwhile, ABS-CBN actor AJ Perez, who died from a tragic car accident, and former Armed Forces of the Philippines chief Angelo Reyes, who committed suicide amid scandals, also made the list. .

Typhoons Chedeng and Pedring, which brought floods to Metro Manila and other provinces, also topped news searches as Pinoys closely followed resulting damages to lives and properties online.

Other major news stories that grabbed attention this year included the postponement of the elections and the ongoing peace talks in the Autonomous Region of Muslim Mindanao (ARMM).

Despite the tragedies, Pinoys also celebrated triumphs of their fellow countrymen such as boxing champ Manny Pacquiao, who recently won against Mexican nemesis Juan Manuel Marquez. Pacquiao topped the search for fastest rising local sports figure.

Filipinos were also hooked on knowing information about Shamcey Supsup, who placed third runner-up in the Miss Universe 2011 pageant after his controversial answer to the question involving religioin and his personal loved one.

Heidi Mendoza, a former Commission on Audit (COA) auditor, who courageously exposed the corruption of Major General Carlos Garcia, was also included in the list.

The fastest rising search terms this year showed the growing interest in the popular game Angry Birds and the social networking site Facebook.

“Planking” also made the list of fastest rising searches and became one of the hottest trends in the Philippines this year, even inspiring a traffic-stopping protest against rising oil prices in Manila in September.

As economies around the world remained sluggish, haggle-loving Pinoys stayed ahead of the curve with discounts and deals on group-buying sites like Cash Cash Pinoy and Ensogo Philippines that offer big discounts on food, products and wellness services.

Filipinos who found the time to relax keyed in searches for Airphil Express and the white sands of Anawangin in Zambales that topped the list of local travel destinations. Other popular destinations this year included historic Corregidor, mystic Sagada, lush Isabela and the popular islands of Batanes, showing that Pinoys are interested in more than just the sun and sea.

No, we filipinos are not sgnreis. Just crass drunken kareoke rubbish. There is little or no talent in the philippines unless its the local filipinos themselves assessing the so called talent’. By international standards most of us filipinos are deluding ourselves with the so called pub house videoke crap singing talent’. But then what does one expect judging by the shit comiing out of wowwowwee and other shit tv programmes like that. Give us all a break. There are no Elton John’s in the philippines and never will be. Happiest in the world?. Sure as long as they refuse to pay their debts. Rather spend their money on birthdays than investing in the future.
