MANILA CITY, METRO MANILA— The Philippine Business for Social Progress is calling on small and micro entrepreneurs to join this year’s Business in Development (BiD) Challenge.
Winners in the local competition will compete in the International BiD Challenge against entrepreneurs from Africa and Latin America, which gives them a chance to pitch their innovative business ideas to potential investors, experts and business partners.
The BiD Network Challenge is an international business plan competition which seeks to lend a hand to budding enterprises that combines profit and poverty reduction by supporting local communities through their businesses.
In the business matching sessions, investors can get exclusive access to quality small and medium-sized business plans in need of financing, while companies and non-government organizations get the opportunity to share their competence and expertise with local entrepreneurs.
Nathalie Arsonillo from Bukidnon was one of those who took part in last year’s BiD Challenge for Women with her mobile cassava processing plant project, which won over other entries from Peru and Uganda.
She shares that the competition helped her see the limitless opportunities not just for her business but for the lives of the cassava farmers in the Matinsalo-Manobo tribe in her hometown.
“Everybody has a business idea, be it a crazy proposition or something just very simple, but the bottom line is the same. We all want progress, for ourselves, for others, and the BiD competition is one of the best avenues to help us achieve that goal,” she adds.
Interested participants have until October 31 to submit their business plans. For more details, visit the PBSP website or email pbsp@pbsp.org.ph
