MANILA CITY, METRO MANILA – The Department of Tourism (DOT) has finally uploaded the third and final music video that is part of its Pilipinas, Tara Na! campaign, aimed at increasing domestic and international tourism.
The third version of the tune Pilipinas, Tara Na! has a different set of lyrics on top of the original musical score.
Among the artists featured in the new version are Ogie Alcasid, Regine Velasquez, Janno Gibbs, Yael Yuzon, Karylle, Kitchie Nadal, the Apo Hiking Society, Urbandub’s Gabby Alipe, Kyla, Nikki Gil and Bayang Barrios.
The new song, which runs for approximately 5 minutes, highlights several of the unique tourism spots in the Philippines. The music video emphasizes on these places and also cuts into the live studio recordings of the performing artists.
A total of 58 Filipino artists collaborated with the DoT for the three songs. The song was composed by artists Mike Villegas and Rico Blanco, with lyrics from Rene Nieva.
All of the videos are available for viewing at the DoT’s Pilipinas, Tara Na! Facebook fan page as well as on their official Youtube account.
In a statement, DoT Secretary Alberto Lim said the efforts of those involved in the creation of the music video campaign will have long term benefits for the government agency’s tourism projects.
He added that the assistance of the artists would show that Filipinos can be proud of their country.
DoT has been embarking on a series of activities to spur domestic and foreign tourism in the Philippines. While there have been a few missteps (such as the disastrous Pilipinas, Kay Ganda project late last year), the DoT quickly managed to come up with better programs in the hopes of spurring tourism.
Since January this year, overseas tourism has been going up to over 2.6 million, surpassing the 2.3 million foreign tourists for the entire 2010.
