QUEZON CITY, METRO MANILA— Overseas Filipino workers, who returned to the country jobless after being displaced in Middle East and Japan, have an opportunity to earn in the country by becoming entrepreneurs themselves.
“In light of recent world events, more Filipino workers are back in the country for good. We think that our sales company will provide them a good, profitable opportunity that will allow them to stay and earn here,” said Sheila Mae Velilla, president and chief executive of World of Wellness (WOW) Direct Sales Corp.
With an initial investment of P1 million, Velilia established and launched World of Wellness (WOW) Direct Sales last year. It was an offshoot of a venture business with beauty and wellness guru Cory Quirino.
“Customers said they found our products affordable and of high quality. There were also lots of inquiries on product distribution,” she said.
More than a business, Velilia said the company is a social enterprise that seeks to develop Filipino entrepreneurs through direct sales of affordable wellness products.
Agents of the company are offered a competitive commission plan based on direct sales of wellness items such as natural organic fruit juices, organic herb capsules, health boosters, herbal drinks and organic wines, she said.
Velilia added the company sells skin whitening products composed of bath products, creams, lotions, and massage oils as well as a product called “Skin Rx” made from guava extracts.
Most of these products are locally manufactured, except for juices from the US, wines are from Spain, and whitening products from Japan. All products were proven safe and effective, she added.
Velilia is bullish that WOW Sales Direct will “grow and capture a significant share of the local market by year-end.”
To achieve this, WOW Direct Sales sells high-quality products at affordable prices and offers a competitive commission plan with lifetime membership privileges. With this package, the company receives hundreds of product distribution inquiries from returning OFWs and Filipino residents alike.
The company is eying a 14 percent growth for 2011.
To date, WOW Direct Sales has wellness centers in Pampanga, Bulacan, and Pasay City and over 100 sales representatives. It is set to open more centers in Isabela, Makati and Mandaluyong this year, added Velilia.
“The company believes that real wealth is in health and investments on health should be made affordable. The more who are given access to this provision, the healthier the nation would be,” she added.
