MAKATI CITY, METRO MANILA— Outsourcing company Convergys Corp. will open a fourth facility in Cebu City as part of its expansion this year.
“Our continued growth is due to the extraordinary support provided by our employees in Cebu and throughout the Philippines to our major international clients,” said Marife Zamora, Philippines country manager and managing director for Asia Pacific and EMEA (Europe, Middle East and Africa).
Zamora said that the new facility is among the expansion sites eyed by Convergys in its bid to help grow the local outsourcing industry to $11 billion by year-end as projected by the Business Processing Association of the Philippines (BPA/P).
Local industry employment is forecast to hit 620,000 from half a million in 2010, the BPA/P added.
The new 650-seat Cebu facility is located at the TGU Tower in the Asiatown. Convergys is looking to hire 800 agents starting this month, said Jose Mercado, Convergys Philippines director for business development.
Once operational, the new Cebu facility would become one of 15 outsourcing facilities of the company in the Philippines including eight in Metro Manila, four in Cebu City, and one each in Bacolod City, Santa Rosa, Laguna, and Baguio City, which was opened during the last week of March.
Convergys Corp. also operates a global command center in Metro Manila, one of three global centers that monitors and manages calls in and out of company facilities in 68 countries.
Agents of the new facility in Cebu will handle customer service calls for financial services, telecommunications, retail, e-Commerce, direct response and health care, among others.
Convergys Corp. has approximately 70,000 employees worldwide, of which over 21,000 are located in the Philippines.
