PASAY CITY, METRO MANILA – Filipino bloggers should strengthen their virtual presence and entrepreneurial potential by making use of video blogs or v-logs, according to blogger Vince Golangco.
“A blog is the most powerful branding tool on the Internet,” said Golangco. Aside from his video blogs, he is known for his satirical tweets and blog posts about the recent May 2010 elections.
Golangco, one of the resource speakers at the “Third Entrepreneur Summit dubbed Click: Technopreneurs Secrets, Revealed,” said young bloggers should take advantage of the “viral” component that video blogging brings.
“You don’t need to have a boardroom meeting to come up with interesting and infectious video blogs,” said Golangco, also the editor-in-chief and creative director of wheninmanila.com, a radio DJ on Mellow 94.7, and host of TekTok (Tech Talk) TV on the Global News Network.
Golangco said that young entrepreneurs should not get intimidated by professional online marketers and other online companies.
“It doesn’t matter if it’s a big corporation. What matters is if you’re a guy with a cool idea,” he said.
Golangco also advised young bloggers to make sure that they write and post significant blog entries that people will perceive as “worth following.”
“Build a strong brand online and it will take you to greater heights,” he said.
For student entrepreneur Gain Ramos, attending conferences is one of the best avenues to find inspiration and hear individuals like Golangco speak about today’s trends, particularly how the Internet can help entrepreneurs like him.
Ramos, who is only 21 years old, runs his own solar energy company.
“I have the knowledge on the physical aspect of handling my business but I still need to work on how to market it in online,” he said.
