MAKATI CITY, METRO MANILA–Despite the advent of e-mail and social media in today’s generation, 21-year-old Beatrix Anne Chua still believes nothing can beat the personal touch there is to writing a letter or a card for someone special.
This was the concept behind The ArtBeat Manila, which offers an array of stationeries specially designed by Beatrix and her friends.
Unique items include include “AB” cards with front covers that are made funky with expressions like “Chillax,” “Isang Sikretong Malupet” or “Yeahboi!” These are also not your usual greeting cards as the insides of the card are actually blank.
“Most of the cards sold on the market usually come with a message. The purpose behind leaving the insides empty is so we can write or even draw whatever we wish to convey,” Beatrix says.
Aside from the cards, which encourage writing from the gift giver, Beatrix says the company also sells brown bags that can also be the gift-of-choice in time for the holiday season and “kris kringles”.
Besides being eco-friendly, each of the bags has its own tags made from abaca and other indigenous fiber.
“We also try out different techniques for our designs, like laser-cut covers, to make our products unique from those usually sold at the market,” she adds.
