PASAY CITY, METRO MANILA— A backdrop of a boudoir photo session can be described as classy and enticing. But for professional photographers Shayla Sanchez, Arlene Briones. and Danielle Tan, the goal of this ‘feminine’ shoot is more about empowering women to show and be proud of their unique beauty.
Boudoir photography is inspired from the French term ‘boudoir’, which means a private room ladies would often use to pamper or dress themselves up back in the Victorian era.
The three photographers complete the team of Boudoir Dolls, which caters to women who want to have an intimate version of themselves captured for many reasons. It could serve as a present, for example, by the fiancee to her husband-to-be – this theme aptly called “Bridal Boudoir”.
Moms expecting their first child can opt for the “Boudoir Bump” as a souvenir of your turn to motherhood, or simply the Boudoir You to celebrate who you are as a woman.
And in case you’re thinking only the sexy, model-bodied women can book for a shoot, think again.
“We don’t just transform or take photos, we create an experience of being photographed. We show women what’s inside them and change the way they see themselves; that they are beautiful,” says Shayla.
The three photographers believe that any woman possesses inner beauty regardless of what she herself perceives to be imperfections.
“You book a session because you want to celebrate being you,” she says. “Despite the flaws you think you have or the dark past that you’ve been through, you’re beautiful, exactly the way God made you.”
