QUEZON CITY, METRO MANILA—International singing star Charice Pempengco said she had a premonition of her father’s death on Halloween.
Ricky Pempengco was stabbed by a certain Angel Capili on Monday night in San Pedro, Laguna. Charice only knew of the incident when news broke out on Tuesday, All Saints’ Day.
“Last night, may kasama ako pero sabi ko kamukha nya daddy ko. Di ko alam na nagpaparamdam na pala sya (Last night, I was with someone whom I said looks very much like my dad. I did not know that he was giving me a premonition then),” Charice wrote on her Twitter page.
Although in grief, Charice told fans that her father always reminded the pop star of her bravery. The singer also said that she and her father had a “great relationship” before her parents went on separate ways.
“We had a really great relationship bago nangyari lahat ng gulo. Sinabi niya sa akin nung ako’y bata pa na hindi actually alam ni mommy, gusto nya akong maging sundalo kasi sabi niya matapang daw ako (We had a really good relationship before all the family squabble. He told me when I was younger, which my mother actually did not know, that he wanted for me to become a soldier because I am brave.),” Charice said.
Despite the distance with her dad when she was growing up and pursuing her singing career, Charice said that she never stopped loving her dad. “I loved him and I will still love him. He’s still my Dad after all.”
Also on Twitter, Charice told her Singaporean fans that she could not attend the Asia concert tour to be with her family.
“I am very sorry to all my fans from Singapore. I am not going to be there to be part of David Foster and Friends concert. I have to go back to the Philippines as soon as possible to be with my family. I hope you all understand. I love you all and I will see you next year.”
Raquel Pempengco, mother of Charice, burst into tears after learning of the stabbing incident and said that she was still in shock.
