MANILA CITY, METRO MANILA – After being part of the Official Selection at the Locarno Film Festival in Switzerland, Raya Martin’s Buenas Noches, España will have its Asian première at the 10th Película Spanish Film Festival

The film will be screened at 9:30 p.m. on October 10 (Monday). It is the only Filipino movie that will be screened at the Spanish filmfest ongoing  until October 16 at the Greenbelt 3 Cinemas.

The 70-minute epic follows the story of a Spanish couple who live out strange teleporting and psychedelic experiences that take them to a journey venturing into the Spanish colonial past in the Philippines.

It stars Spanish Goya award winner Pilar Lopez de Ayala (Juana La Loca) and Andrés Gertrudix (El Bola).

Buenas Noches, España is the third Filipino film to be premiered in the Festival following Gil Portes’ Barcelona in 2006 and Jim Libiran’s football film Happyland last year.

As the cultural arm of the Spanish Embassy, Instituto Cervantes continconducts activities that advance the cultural and historical ties between Spain and the Philippines.

“The Philippines may not be a Spanish-speaking country, but it still shares many of these cultural manifestations. The shared heritage of Spain and the Philippines is deeply rooted in the historically rich common past that is evident in the daily life of every Filipino,” says Instituto Cervantes director Eduardo Calvo.

Born in 1984 in Manila, Martin graduated from the University of the Philippines Film Institute in 2005. He first worked as a writer and researcher for television shows, newspapers, radio programs and online magazines.

Martin held the distinction of being the first Filipino filmmaker selected for the prestigious Cinéfondation Residence du Festival de Cannes in Paris, France, in 2005. He won Best Director for his film Autohystoria at the 2007 Cinemanila International Film Festival.
