MAKATI CITY, METRO MANILA – On the surface, this teen band looks like a group of smarty pants and straight A students. But beyond their bookish bravado lies a yearning to share their music.
C-Major 7 is made up of seven interconnected- in blood and passion – teens set to challenge the formulaic packaging of most bands today, adding a dash of classical music into wholesome pop-rock.
All of them achievers academically and artistically, there is no shortage of creative juices in the band, to say the least.
The self titled debut album consists of songs that reflect traditional Filipino values. Pandesal, for example, an original composition by 16 year-old lead singer Bobbie Mabilog, tackles the iconic Filipino breakfast staple.
Pinoy Idol, composed by singer and keyboard player Brad, is the band’s way of paying homage to Filipinos who have made their fellow Filipinos proud. The song also features the rap skills of bassist Gelo Cristobal and Josh Mabilog, Bobbie’s younger brother who also plays keyboards.
The band had its major gig last May at the RJ Bistro at Hotel Dusit in Makati and have made the rounds of radio and TV appearances.
C Major 7 is composed of Melchora “Bobbie” Mabilog (lead vocals), Joseph “Brad” Mabilog, Jr. (lead keyboardist, composer, vocals), Nico Evangelista (lead guitarist, composer, vocals), Maria “Maane” Isidro (percussions), Angelo “Gelo” Cristobal (bass guitar, rapper), Mary “Marice” Isidro (drummer), and Josh Mabilog (keyboard, vocals, rapper).
