MAKATI CITY, METRO MANILA- As part of the celebration of the 140 years of trade relations between the Philippines and Germany, the German-Philippine Chamber of Commerce and Industry, Inc. (GPCCI) will hold a grand exposition in October.

Held annually in the Philippines since 2008, the “Mabuhay Germany” expo showcases a comprehensive collection of German products, services, and culture.

This year, organizers assigned the theme “Winning Moments” to highlight the success stories of partnerships and friendships built by both countries.

GPCCI has been recognized for fostering partnerships with local solar power developers in promoting innovative solutions to climate change with the introduction of alternative energy.

Nadine Fund, GPCCI Business Development Manager, said the expo aims to celebrate the importance of the solid linkage between Germany and the Philippines.

“A relationship between two countries is nothing unlike the relationship between two people. Using our strengths, there are so many bigger things we can do together to make our countries stronger,” Fund said.

The expo is also an opportunity for German expatriates to convene and share what they have learned about Filipino culture.

“Personally, I’ve learned that Filipinos are all about teamwork. In Germany, we were not accustomed to such togetherness at work. Filipinos actually bond with friends and family which always come first above anything else,” Fund said.

Fund said with the participation of Philippine-based German companies at the exposition, young Filipinos will be given the opportunity to work for top-notch industry partners without having to leave the country.

Fund also said she hopes the exposition will boost tourism activities for both countries.

“Since it can be costly to visit our country, we thought of taking the experience closer to Filipinos while at the same time, we also learn something from visiting your country,” she said.

As part of the celebrations, local performers such as The Bloomfields and The Out of Body Special will be performing alongside first class jazz bands from Germany in the three-day event slated on October 7 to 9 at the Bonifacio High Street in Bonifacio Global City (BGC), Taguig City.

There will also be a photo contest and a workshop for local and foreign photo to be conducted by Canon. The participants will also be asked to submit a photo that shows their “winning moment.” Ten winning photos for the Mabuhay Germany exposition photo contest will be displayed inside ten participating establishments at the BGC.

October is also the time when the German community commemorates “German Unification”, which is why a bazaar, a car exposition, sports competitions like soccer and table football and a food and beer festival, will also be included in the exposition.
