QUEZON CITY, METRO MANILA  – Artists collaborated with militant groups to conduct protests through stage performances, on-the-spot painting, and satirical plays that depict their collective perception of President Benigno Aquino III during his first-ever State of the Nation Address.

Bagong Alyansang Makabayan (BAYAN) staged a satirical skit that portrays President Aquino as a magician who relays his SONA to a seemingly innocent public.

Prior the exhibitions, BAYAN Secretary General Renato Reyes Jr. expressed displeasure on Aquino, conducting a protest rally in the vicinity of the Batasan Complex, several several meters away from the Congressional compound.

Students from Kalayaan College, headed by their professor Teta Tulay, showed that people need not be affiliated with any protest group to take part in democracy. Under the scorching heat, the Fine Arts students painted on canvas, artworks that reflect their perception and aspirations for the Aquino administration.

Kilometer 64, an on-line community of poets collaborated for the installation of Tulagalag poetry, comprised of their original pieces on the Hacienda Luisita Massacre victims.

“Gusto naming maging reflection ang mga tula na ito, ng nagyaring karumal-dumal na pagpaslang sa mga magsasaka sa Hacienda Luisita dahil hanggang ngayon, hindi pa po sila nabibigyan ng hustisya (We want our poems to reflect the terrible killings of the farmers of Hacienda Luisita because until now, no justice is served),” said Kilometer 64 founder Rustom Casia.

Democratic-Socialist Political Organization Socialista staged Talentadong P-Noy, a talent show that serves as a call to action for President Aquino to lay concrete programs against corruption specifically for the poor.

“Klaro na umaandar ang administrasyon ni Aquino sa ilalim ng mga elitistang opisyal na kumakatawan dito, kaya kami nagtipon dito ngayon para iparating kay Presidente Aquino ang pangangailangan ng mga mahihirap na miyembro ng lipunan (It is evident that the Aquino administration operates within the elitist realm, which is why we are here to push the needs of the poor),” said Socialista spokesperson Mike Dizon.

These activities showed that people can relay their political sentiments in a peaceful and creative manner.

Hello Ms. Catherine, I just wanted to tell youa0this:Though Cory was not the most inteladliadgent or expeadriadenced of all presadiaddents, the best aihceveadments she made was restorading demoadcadraadtic instiadtuadtions and helpading the nation adjust from a dicadtaadtoradship to a democadracy. Being a presadiaddent after Maradcos was hard. We had a lot of probadlems and she was inexadpeadriadenced. But she still kept her promise of being honadest and humadble in pubadlic, which were the traits that led her to the presadiaddency. She tried her best and she never gave up in helpading the Philipadpines rise from a disadasadtrous dicadtaadtoradship. Her famadily sacadriadficed a lot for the Filadipino peoadple. They sacadriadficed their peradsonal lives. Cory did not want to be in the limeadlight, yet she sacadriadficed her priadvacy for the sake of the Filadipino peoadple. So don’t you dare say that she did nothading. Don’t dare say she failed because she tried her best and never gave up. Only in givading up do we really fail.
