WASHINGTON, D.C. — A new international album plus a concert where she’ll be performing for First Lady Michelle Obama. Filipinos couldn’t be any prouder of this singer we all know as Charice.
The international singing sensation, who rocketed to fame after she guested in shows hosted by famous American TV personalities Ellen DeGeneres and Oprah Winfrey, recently released her first international album.
The self-titled album’s carrier single “Pyramid” features rapper Iyaz and was produced by renowned Canadian musician and producer David Foster.
In an interview with Inquirer.net, Charice expressed her excitement over this album which she said took over a year and a half to finish. She also proudly reported that the song, Pyramid, landed on the billboard pop charts overnight.
Even online, the song proves to be a hit as more and more people are doing covers of it. Check this video from Lisa who made an acoustic version. Another fan played it on the piano.
Following the album’s launch was the release of Pyramid’s official music video which earned over 43,000 views on YouTube after only a day. Prior to this, a video of the song’s studio recording was also posted on the site which garnered over 2 million views.
Comments poured from proud kababayans congratulating the singer with her new achievement. Viewer, Quaker63591 wrote, “With that kind of pure and raw talent, she’ll surely rock hollywood and the rest of the world.” Another viewer thanked Charice for serving as an inspiration for aspiring singers. Many others commended the singer’s talent and wished her more success.
Aside from the album, Charice gives another reason for Filipinos to be proud as she is set to sing for First Lady Michelle Obama who is a special guest at a charity concert titled, An Evening with Childhelp Featuring David Foster at the historic Warner Theater in Washington D.C. next week.Charice will be performing with some of Hollywood’s biggest starts including Brian McKnight, American Idol winner Ruben Studdard and Patti La Belle.
The event is part of the 50th Anniversary Celebration of Childhelp, an organization committed to the prevention and treatment of child abuse in America and beyond.
